Who doesn’t love a good ice cream cone on a hot summer day? We sure do... It’s a good thing Wayne County is full of great drive-in spots, and we have created the perfect list for you to visit them all. From ice cream to sandwiches to milkshakes, these places will be your one-stop shop all summer long. Our list has a total of 16 locations for you to check off and try, ranging from Gasser’s Market Place in Creston to the Dalton Dari-ette and over to the Shreve Dari-bar.

Wooster

Of all our stops throughout Wayne County, Wooster has the most drive in’s/ ice cream locations with a total of 5! Dari-land, Guerne Heights, Hartzlers, Scoops Sweet-Treats, and Lionsgate are the stops to check off.

Dari-land, located on 306 W. Liberty St is always a fun stop whether for ice cream, milkshakes or a bite to eat. They also has a delicious dole-whip that will make summer seem even closer than it is. With a great menu and lots to choose from, however don’t forget to bring cash, this location does not take cards or checks.

Guerne Heights is a crowd favorite in the area. Located on 3004 Dover Rd., Guerne will bring smiles to everyone's faces. Whether it’s the 3rd flavor, which is the weekly additional flavor besides vanilla and chocolate, family feel, or fun atmosphere. When you're stopping here you are sure to have great food and friendly service!

Hartzler's Dairy is the classic ice cream shop. Hartlzer’s has been around since the 1950’s and the store we all know and love was actually the original milk processing plant! If you haven't had Hartzler's milk, you're missing out for sure! They have some of the creamiest milk which then makes the creamiest ice cream. With flavors like heifer trails, chicken feed, Hot mud, and Trip to the dentist, you're sure to find something you'll enjoy! Make sure you grab a cone, and a bottle of milk to take home with you when you stop by Hartzler’s at 5454 Cleveland Rd.

One of the newer members of the ice cream scene in Wayne county is Scoops Sweet Treats located at 9816 Ashland Rd, just outside of Wooster. This shop has a variety of fun treats such as malts, sundaes, floats, and so much more, but it doesn’t end there. Scoops also has a wide variety of food items as well, like fries perfect for ice cream dippin’.

Lionsgate is located at 3355 S Columbus Rd in a unique building. They specialize in  pizza/subs, salads, and ice cream, a classic trio! Grab some dinner and finish off with some ice cream on the beautiful patio!

Smithville

Smithville Dari-land is located at 750 E. Main Street and gives that hometown feel. You may remember the Wooster Dari-land listed above, and yes they are owned by the same person so the stores have a lot of similarities! Typically what you can find at one can be found at the other.

The Oak Cupboard is another unique stop. Located in the ‘shops’ next to The Barn Restaurant at 883 W Main St, Smithville. Inside this shop you will find some items in bulk such as baking supplies, candies, and other treats both savory and sweet. They also have some home decor, and unique kitchen tools. If you're looking for a fun place to check out with the whole family while grabbing your ice cream, I'd highly recommend The Oak Cupboard.

Orrville

Orr Valley Creamery, 1402 N Main St, Orrville is new to the line up. They opened October 2022, and have had great success. We think they make an excellent addition to Orrville. Orr Valley has an assortment of sweet treats that are perfect for evening dessert, a hot summer day, or just as a pick-me-up. They might be one of the only stops in Orrville for a sweet treat, but they sure are worth it if you're in the area.
